The short version
A sprint fee reserves a team and a block of time. Before that time is reserved, your money is yours. Once we have held dates for you, a cancellation costs something, and once we are building, the fee is committed.
If we are the reason the work cannot happen, you get your money back. We would rather refund cleanly than argue about a fortnight.
Before we hold dates for you
Scoping conversations are free, and an enquiry commits you to nothing. If you pay a sprint fee and change your mind before we have scheduled the sprint and reserved the team, tell us and we refund it in full.
Cancelling a scheduled sprint
Once dates are booked, that time is turned away from other work. Unless your written agreement says otherwise:
- More than 7 days before the start date. The fee is refunded in full, less any scoping or research work already delivered to you.
- Within 7 days of the start date. Half the sprint fee is refunded. The remainder covers the reserved time we can no longer fill.
- Rescheduling instead. You can move a sprint once, at no cost, to any date within the following three months. That is almost always the better answer, and we will suggest it first.
Once a sprint has begun
After the first day of a sprint the fee is not refundable, because the work it pays for is being done. If you need to stop partway, we stop, and we hand over everything built to that point along with the source code and access.
You are never billed beyond an agreed scope. If a sprint needs more than we scoped, we come back to you with a number before doing the work, not after.
If we cannot deliver
If we cancel, cannot start, or cannot finish the agreed scope for a reason of our own, we refund the fee for the work not delivered, in full, without you having to ask twice. Where we have delivered part of the scope, we refund the balance and you keep what was built.
What is not refundable
- Third-party costs paid on your behalf, such as domains, hosting, licences, and paid services. Those are billed at cost and are non-returnable once purchased.
- Work already delivered and accepted, including research, scoping documents, and shipped software.
- An honest recommendation you did not want to hear. If the evidence says the idea should change or stop, that finding is the product, and delivering it is not a failure to deliver.
How to request a refund
Email hello@brightaxisit.com with the project name and what you would like to happen. We reply within three working days, and where a refund is due we send it to the original payment method within ten working days of agreeing it.
Your statutory rights
Nothing on this page reduces rights you have under the law where you live, including any consumer cancellation rights. Where a signed engagement agreement sets different refund terms, that agreement controls. The rest of the commercial arrangement is covered in our Terms and Conditions.
